why do cats moan, and mostly at night?

Only the females go on heat, and yes this is why they are moaning and howling all night.
If your male cat makes these same sounds he may be lonely and want to go out and find that special female cat haha. I have ugly male cats hanging around my house when my cat’s are on heat, haven’t heard them make sounds though.
They are in heat. They want to mate.
They’re just looking for a little action.
