I’m a female, for one, and I hear they’re supposed to be loud. But I don’t do more than shallow gasps. It’s definitely not that there’s no pleasure. I’m just not vocal. Would that discourage partners?

However – do you mean that you haven’t had sex yet and you’re only comparing to masturbation? Most people aren’t very vocal, if at all, during masturbation, it doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t be during partnered sex.
I can be completely silent if I chose to be. I think when I’m with a partner I just let the sounds come instead of just gasping because I know it’s a turn-on for him.
